Cancelon

Overview

Cancelon is all about the travelers of the world. It helps travelers to find great hotel deals for top travel destinations around the world. from overall world traveler experience sometimes life gets in the way and even the best-laid plans can change. When that happens, Cancelon’s goal is to make sure travelers’ spirit isn’t crushed, travelers’ love for travel stays strong and travelers’ money doesn’t go down the drain. Cancelon does this by giving travelers the opportunity to sell them hotel reservations to someone else if the traveler can no longer use it or cancel it.

Challenges

It was a huge concept and the challenge was that different suppliers will have different deals to offer and the user can also sell them pre-booked hotel reservations – making it difficult to Synchronize the deals from the seller members and provide a single custom form to the user. Our team after a lot of brainstorming came up with a custom solution in which deals can be added by the suppliers and user will sell pre-booked hotels by register themselves with the portal.  The client wanted a Commission structure on pre-booked reservation selling so that the suppliers can view the commission earned report for the deals posted by him/her. It was also essential that the commission percentage be set by the website admin.

Our Approach

Normally Angular does not support on-page SEO optimization and the website was going to build for end-users so it must have to support to build this application with SEO optimization many users come from google trivago, TripAdvisor, and different hotel booking portals to our come this challenge it must have to render the page from server-side that’s cold server-side rendering SSR. Angular universal does support server-side rendering with the help of .net core javascript service library.

Performance of this site the performance is a key point with cancelon.com there are many third-party javascript libraries like Hotjar, google analytics, Riskified, live chat, etc. need to called when the user opens any of cancelon.com page. It was taking more than 10 seconds to render the page to our come to this challenge we implemented lazy loading on the angular side use s3 bucket called the js, CSS and images from S3 bucket minified javascript CSS and many other steps which were necessary to improve the steps.

Too many requests to server the application had more than 200+ request to render the page the request was for javascript CSS and APIs it is good to have less request to server and Gtmatrix says 90 is ideal number of request. this challenge we used sprit images to reduce the multiple-image call to the server we had bundling multiple javascript in .net core and merge the multiple CSS into ones after took all the steps we have reduce website request we also implemented browser catch memory to reduce call.
